Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!

First you see it...

Then you don't.

Tonight was a busy, but very productive night on the basement kitchen addition. The demolition work is just about done and then we can get started on framing the new walls. Soon this will all start to look like something more than just a mess. The previous contractor built some VERY funky walls; they looked a lot more like a wood jigsaw puzzle than framed wall. Fortunately everything up in the ceilings look great and well setup for the new walls.

So, what's next? We have another day or two of demolition work; we still have to pull up about half of the tile floor under the washer/dryer and pull off the rest of the drywall from the "laundry room" and just clean up what we've done thus far. We should be ready to start framing the new walls this week and then, after that, a little bit of plumbing and electrical work and then we get to close it all back up and get to work on the fun stuff, cabinets, appliances, paint and flooring. It's going to look great when it's all done... hopefully before September 1st.

Now, before you get too jealous (I know destroying things SEEMS like great fun), check out the picture below. We'll be spending out Saturday carting all this trash to the dump and picking up new stuff to put back in.
