A Hot Day at the Zoo

The zoo seems to be the one Smithsonian venue we actually take advantage of on a somewhat regular basis. This past weekend, mom, William, Elisa and Sara were in town, so we spent an afternoon at the zoo with Sue and Taylor.

The girls enjoyed a chance to cool off in the mist.

And were thoroughly entertained in the animal pens of the petting zoo. It was apparently too hot for anything other than humans to be walking around outside.

But there are two things at the zoo that never fail to get kids smiling - animal statues you can climb on, and the prairie dogs. We made sure we stopped by both.
